Give your TouchPad an inch and it'll take a mile!
I gave my TouchPad the day off yesterday... meaning that it stayed in the briefcase because I had things to do in the real world and no time to graze at the online buffet table.
Late morning today I went to put the TP back on duty and found it to be unresponsive... deader than my uncle who passed away in 1972.
I didn't look at the device as I pulled it out of my bag, so I'm figurin' that I had put it in so that the power button was facing downward and was pressed in/on until the battery ran out.
The re-charge took several hours and the TP was able to graze at the buffet before the early sunset on this November afternoon.
Consider yourselves warned... the TP will take advantage of you any chance it gets!

My TouchPad Today: TouchPad Battery on Standby - Update
In a post last week I mentioned that the battery in my wife's little-used firewall TP was draining about 20 - 25% per day when turned off and not plugged into a Touchstone or conventional USB charger.
Well, this week the battery is showing almost no loss when kept at idle and off a charger... A pleasant development.
(I wonder if the battery has stabilized itself after experiencing more charging cycles?)

My TouchPad Today: TouchPad Battery on Standby
My wife isn't really using her TouchPad yet, so I'm having to keep a bit of an eye on it...
Seems like the TouchPad drains about 20 - 25% of its battery power per day when turned off and not plugged into a Touchstone or conventional USB charger.
(Just a casual observation over several days this week.)

My TouchPad Today: TouchPad Battery Life
For me, the battery life of my TouchPad continues to be one of the nice little plusses of tablet computing. Gone is the constant battery indicator watching of the laptop world.
Thus far, when working unplugged, I haven't had the need to plug in at any point in a given day to get more juice to keep going.
My guesstimate is that I'm using in the vicinity of 15% of my battery power per hour, unplugged and continuously on wifi.
I can live with that quite nicely!

My TouchPad Today: Three Quick Thoughts
Three quick thoughts today about my HP TouchPad...
Battery Life -- Satisfied thus far with the battery life on my TP. I haven't had a day yet where I've run it down to less than a 45% charge remaining.
CE Compass Leather Case -- Case covers the TP's ambient light sensor, causing the display screen to dim. A possible remedy I'm thinking over is to punch a hole in the lip/ridge that covers the sensor.
Screen Protector -- Still awaiting delivery of my anti-glare protector from Amazon. Glare and reflection from the screen are becoming a major distraction and impediment to my work on the TP.

Day In and Day Out...
Not the old song, but rather a brief post about how my TouchPad's battery is responding to daily use.
In a word... Fine. As I'm typing this, my battery is just a bit south of 65%, nearing 3:00 PM on a weekday.
Are there other tablets out there with better battery specs than the TouchPad?... Sure, but I'm not using one. The TouchPad is meeting my current needs, so the talk about which battery takes and holds a bigger charge is irrelevant to me at this time.
Hey, I've been using devices powered by rechargeable batteries for close to thirty years, and I've had a few "dogs" along the way. The TouchPad isn't a dog -- far from it. Its fine!

Battery Life?
I haven't had the opportunity to fully run down the battery yet and get a feel for how long the TouchPad will actually run on a charge, but I can say that it seems to sip power more slowly than any device (other than an Amazon Kindle) I've ever owned.
